INTERVIEW PREPARATION
Essential ingredients for a successful interview:
- Do your research - the job, the company, the industry.
- Dress to impress - smart suit, minimal jewellery, no strong perfume or aftershave.
- First impressions count - firm handshake, smile and make eye contact.
- Be prepared. Know the time, date and location of the interview. Know the names and job titles of the people you are meeting.
- Engage the Interviewer. Remember to use their name throughout the interview to reinforce the message that you are interested in them and the job, but avoid over familiarity.
- Know your CV so you can clearly communicate your skills and projects you have worked on, and be able to discuss the highlights of your career to date. This is your opportunity to sell yourself and your achievements.
- Be positive, honest and don’t ramble. Show enthusiasm for the role and how you will fit well into their team.
- Anticipate difficult questions. Any weaknesses can be turned into a strength - demonstrate that you have learnt from your mistakes and are stronger for it.
- Prepare intelligent questions to demonstrate your interest in the role and the company.
